But I've also lost power, or, more to the point, motivation. Motivation to write. Motivation to run. Motivation to work. Even motivation to snap photos. Now I'm just counting down the days until I can come home.
The trip has finally gotten to me. I don't know how military folk do it. Now, to be sure, they've got the company of their unit. But they've also got the constant threat of attack, so I don't envy them. Much.
Let's see, what have I been up to? Well, I've been struggling to get stuff together for work. Seems the support from the home front (my Austin office) is drying up a bit in the home stretch and I'm being left to my own devices. And, well, we just talked about them.
I've been running rather consistently, and that's good. I've even been eating properly, in hopes of dropping these British "biscuit" pounds.
What else? STILL trying to get the forms together for selling my house. The title agency gave me a Deed of Gift, which the solicitor (British lawyer) said was wrong (it's NOT a gift). And it was missing the attachment. So I had him whip out another form. But this one would require both Vince and I to pay taxes on the money, so that's not good. But, after some talk with my lawyer friends, we're going to go with the Deed of Gift, with the attachment, and a document on the side talking to the money. Hopefully this works. Solicitors, by the way, are expensive as notaries. 60 pounds. But it'll be worth it to have this done.
Next up this week is to order the give-away for the Backyard Bash. Shouldn't be too hard.
After that I need to get some boxes and start shipping my gear home. We'll follow that up with trying to convince work that I want a 4-month sabbatical. If not, maybe I'll just have to quit. But only for awhile. I DO like what I'm doing. But I like the idea of buying a Jeep and traveling cross country with Ozzy even better. Wish me luck! And, yes, to any of you that live elsewhere: I DO plan on visiting, particularly those in the Northeast, Chicago, Colorado, California, and Texas. Can't wait!
