"Stark Raving Mad" - 2002

Well, after my run tonight (a whole three miles!) I finally got to see Seann William Scott in "Stark Raving Mad" alongside Lou Diamond Phillips and Dave Foley, among others. I have to tell you, after my run, which didn't go too well, I needed this movie. I also have to tell you, I was pleasantly surprised. If you like Seann William Scott, or are just curious about some of his other projects, this one could entertain you. At the very least it's not just putting Steve Stiffler in another movie. He actually does something else in this one.

Picture a rave. Picture a bank robbery. Picture the rave covering up the bank robbery. Now picture everything going wrong. Ben McGewen (Scott) needs to perform one last job for local crime boss, Gregory (Lou Diamond Phillips), but he needs to perform it on the turf of Gregory's rival, Jin Sun (Terry Chen), in China Town. The club owner decides to stay. The D.J. isn't being cooperative. The transvestites don't know how to use extension cords. There's a boa in the ductwork (not a feather one, either). FBI agents are trolling the club while underage women are playing truth or dare. On top of that your dream girl shows up, your safe man is an epileptic, and someone spiked your explosives expert's drink. Talk about a rough night.

What else can I say? This was a decent movie that deserved much more than it's straight-to-video label. Hell, if they can put "Legally Blonde 2" in the theatres, why not this one? The plot was good. The characters were great. And the music was fun. One problem though, they teased you with answering the ultimate question: just WHAT DO those transvestites do with their candy? But it did teach me that watching the Discovery Channel just might save your life, and that's a good thing, right Martha?
