"Fantastic Four" was well done, from it's choice of actors to it's story-line. While it strayed a bit from the original comic book on which it is based, it did so in a way that I think die hard fans wouldn't mind. Or would they?
This is the story of five people, living together, on a space station. Let's see what happens when people stop being polite, and start being real. Okay, not really. But, sort of. Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, Sue Storm, and Victor Von Doom, go way back. All the way to college. Wow. Well, Reed needs some cash to fund a trip to outer space. Victor has that cash. And the space station. And Reed's girl. So the four set out, along with Sue's brother (and pilot), Johnny, to the space station to conduct and experiment on cosmic radiation. But when something goes wrong all of them are changed forever. Some for the better. Some for the worse.
Anyway, let's start by saying Michael Chiklis was amazing as Ben Grimm, a.k.a. The Thing. Apparently he got used to the prosthetic teeth by telling bedtime stories to his kids while wearing them. And Chris Evans, from "Not Another Teen Movie" and "Cellular," did very well as Johnny Storm. I was worried about Jessica Alba as Sue Storm, but she did okay, too. So did the Brit, Ioan Gruffudd, as Mr. Fantastic, Reed Richards. Julian McMahon, while not what I had envisioned as the infamous Doctor Doom, changed my mind. The storyline was a good way to introduce all the major players as well. And I love how Stan Lee makes an appearance in all the Marvel movies, this time as a doorman. If you liked "Spider Man" or "X-Men" this is your movie. If you didn't then, well, maybe you should try this one anyway. Besides, if you're a girl, it's full of hotties. And if you're a guy, they blow shit up. Alot.
