Ireland - Day 6 (Tuesday 4/04/2006)

By the way, try this link to view photos of my trip to Ireland. It will remain active for awhile, and all the photos are labeled. Enjoy!

Tuesday morning I woke up early (again) and jumped in the car to head south to this small, fishing village called Kinsale. It was nice. From there I headed west along the West Cork Coast. This road was BEAUTIFUL! Just stunning.

Mizen Head is on the southwestern most tip of Ireland and is this gorgeous lighthouse, perched along the Cliffside. I strongly recommend it. And it’s a nice walk, too. It is a bit of a drive to get there, but the sights along the way are great.

From there I stopped briefly in Castletownshend, another small fishing village, where you drive down this steep, winding road, and find yourself at a boat launch along the water. It was early enough that I had it all to myself. It was quite relaxing. All these places I’m telling you about, by the way, can be Google’d pretty easily. In fact, I’m doing it now just to make sure I don’t give you any false information.

Anyway, I stayed in Killarney for the night. There’s not much to this town. I’d recommend trying Kinsale instead. Besides, what’s with all of their signs missing letters? That’s just weird.

There wasn’t much to see here, but I will say that the crab claws and lamb stew at the Laurel’s Singing Pub was the best food I had during my stay in Ireland. However, I will say that there is nothing worse for someone with A.D.D. than staring at a sweet-smelling, delicious-looking bowl of lamb stew that is too hot to eat. Bummer.
