"Green Street"

"It isn't knowing that your friends have your back. It's knowing that you have your friends' back." This movie has many names: "Green Street" a.ka. "Hooligans" a.k.a. "Green Street Hooligans, " but it has only one description: F*cking Awesome. There's a reason it won Best of the Fest at the 2005 Malibu Film Festival. Great story. Great characters. And great directing.

Matt Buckner, soon to graduate Harvard as a journalist, is set up by an @ss-munching Senator's son to take the fall for a crime. He is expelled and soon finds himself visiting his sister in London. He meets her beautiful child, her loving husband, and his brother, Pete. Pete introduces Matt to the world of football hooliganism. It's here he learns about true friendship, true family, and truly taking things too far. "Pete Dunham's life taught me there's a time to stand your ground, and his death taught me there's a time to walk away."

Fitting that I started reading "Fever Pitch" today. This movie is definitely one to recommend. Powerful, moving, and slightly unnerving. Rent it today, watch it tonight, and talk about it tomorrow.
