Sunday Morning's Thought

Okay, so there I am, taking care of business on Sunday morning. Now after a night of Chinese food let's just say that the scent is a bit, um, noticeable. So that got me thinking.

When you fart, you can smell it almost immediately. Now I'm thinking, Entropy and the Law of Diffusion, whereby particles will diffuse from an area of greater concentration to an area of lesser concentration creating a steady state, doesn't quite seem to explain it for me. Are farts lighter than air? Makes sense if farts are made up of Methane gas. And how far would a fart rise anyway? Is there some layer around the earth made up of entirely methane gas? On another note, could that be what makes some sh*t float? If it contains a high fart content, and therefore more methane, would that cause it to float? Hell, I suppose any amount of any gas would help it float, if you consider it would cause the turd to displace less water, thereby increasing its buoyancy. But I digress. Anyway, some farts are also quite warm and, since warm air rises, this might explain it. But not all farts are warm, so what is it? Well, turns out my original belief wasn't entirely true, and that Entropy and the Law of Diffusion is indeed indeed responsible for the marjority of the effect, with my other ideas bringing up the rear, so to speak.

How did I find this out? Well, I looked to this cat, Heptune, and his articles on poop and farts . Hey, while you're here, you may even want to visit the Fart Mart. Once again, I ask you, "Ain't the internet grand?"
