At least that's what they say. So I've spent the morning cleaning the house. Maybe I'll learn to like washing dishes, taking out the trash, and scrubbing toilets. And maybe I'll get good at ironing, or vacuuming, or maybe even folding laundry. Yeah, probably not. But that's what women are for, right? Just kidding. Sort of. I mean, isn't it usually up to the men to figure out all the techy and mechanical stuff for the ladies? I know that seems to be my job. So shouldn't it follow that the women should hold up their end of the deal? I know, I know, so outdated. Today's world is all about mixed roles and compromise. So I'll make you a deal: you come over to England and take care of all that stuff above, and I'll give you free room and board, and drive your automotively challenged ass around. Deal? No? Well, back to the drawing board.
I also spent a part of the morning going on another run. No sense wasting all that effort to get where I am physically just b/c I didn't qualify for Boston. In fact I think I'm finding it a bit easier to motivate myself out the door not having qualified. I think had I qualified I'd be sitting back resting on my laurels. Or, even had I been able to try to qualify on Sunday, and failed, I'd probably be moping about, fed up with running. But b/c I wasn't really able to give it my all, life goes on, and I just keep running. Like Dora says: just keep swimming.
Speaking of practice, here's a photochopped picture of mine. The foreground is Pike's Peak, Colorado. The background is, well, somewhere else. Like it? I do.
Well, I finished Harry Potter 5 last night and started in on Robert Jordan's "Knife of Dreams." So far, so good, though I'm only 50 pages in and spending a majority of the time trying to remember the story and characters from the first 10 books. No worries there. I'm sure it will come back to me.
Well, it's time to grab some lunch and then head out to get groceries (I haven't gone all week). After that I think I'll catch the Harry Potter 4 movie. Best prepare myself for a theatre full of children. Hey, maybe that will help me prepare to be a teacher. Sunday children's movies. You think so?
By the way, Black Friday and such must extend over here, too. I went out for a little bit yesterday and, man, was city center crowded! I could barely move my way through the book store. One thing about shopping over here for non-essentials: avoid it if you can. Between the crowds, the costs, and the exchange rate, it's just not usually worth it. Oh well, keeps me frugal.
